Tree growth can be accurately detected by all laser technologies, but Yellowscan can detect tree structure parameters more accurately vertically and horizontally than other 3D data acquisition technologies due to the higher point density that captures the entire tree structure.

The YellowScan Surveyor was performed to scan a grassland area, where horses and cows were recently reintroduced as part of a so-called rewilding experiment. We detected and monitored a specific shrub species that is problematic in some areas in terms of encroachment.

Using LiDAR to quantify effects of Climate Change in Vermont Forests

The gypsy moth is an invasive species that can devastate forest canopies. In Vermont the gypsy moth is normally kept in check by a fungus, but abnormally dry conditions prevented the fungus from thriving resulting in an explosion of gypsy moth caterpillars.
